1777 - 1900
1777 - First settler David Aspen lived in log cabin on what is now near the southern boundry line of the borough. David was kiled by indians the following year.
1793 - John Heap obtained the first land patent from the state.
1819 - Jeptha Hughes bought the ground that was originally Jon Heaps, plotted the town and named it Hughesville. A Grist mill was erected. Daniel Harrold bought the land of Hughesville.
1820 - Tingley & Corson established a blacksmith in Hughesville. the First Tavern opened for business.
1827 - Theodore Wells was appointed postmaster of the first post office in Hughesville.
1829 - William Kitchen established a chair factory.
1830 - Theodore Wells and Johnson formed a partnership to manufacture wagons, they turned out the famous Dearborn Wagon.
1828 - The first resident physician Dr. Joh W. Paele came to Hughesville.
1832 - Robert Pursel operated a tannery.
1852 - Hughesville borough became an incorporation.
1857 - Buck & Bardo blacksmith opened shop.
1859 - The Hughesville Iron Works was established.
1868 - Christian Metz opend a gentalmen's clothing shop.
1869 - Hughesville's first factory was built by James Laird
1870 - William Strouse opend a watchmaker shop.
1871 - The Hughesville Carriage Works was founded.
1872 - H. M. Payne pharmacy opened. E. M. Frontz opened shop and manufactured al kinds of footware. Palmer & mecum's blacksmith shop opend in town.
1874 - The Muncy Valley farmer's Club began a series of annual exhibitions at the fair grounds with eventually became the home of the Lycoming County Fair in 1915.
1875 - The first lawyers office, W. E. Crawford, opened.
1884 - The Hughesville Fire Company was organized.
1888- The First National Bank of Hughesville was established.
1889- Total school enrollment hits 265 students. Flood hits area.
1890 - W. E. Crawford purchased the Former Ed Lyon home wich was a large colonial brick house that contained 9 fireplaces, Egyptian marble, and other elegant touches.
1891- Hughesville was supplied with water from deep driven wells through a pipeline system. Electric lights were introduced to hughesville at this time also.
